‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ split tense instants

Welcome back, J&K fans! It’s been a few weeks since we’ve seen the Gosselins and as we all know (and by we I mean anyone in the vicinity of a tabloid magazine) things are, to say the very least, different. The last episode before this summer’s hiatus saw the kiddies (remember those guys?) getting “Crooked Houses” while Jon and Kate officially announced the news that everyone already knew: they were separating. Last night's two new episodes spanned from pre-split January to more recent post-split days.

In the first of the two episodes, entitled “Renovations and Vacations,” we heard Kate tell us that she is now trying to find “a sense of peace” for her family. First order of business in achieving familial peace? Getting a new, renovated kitchen! Yes, the Gosselins are once again given a luxurious freebie. On the list of things I was hoping not to see in the newer episodes, freebies and promotional tie-ins was pretty high up there. But hey, no one from HGTV showed up, so at least there’s that.

With the kids nowhere in sight yet, Jon and Kate share some obviously tense moments while deciding how to remodel their kitchen. Kate, with arms crossed, asks Jon what planet he’s from when he makes a suggestion (which she would soon find out, was not the worst idea after all.) Ah, just like the good ol’ days. I went into tonight on Kate’s side, albeit reluctantly, in large part thanks to Jon's Ed Hardy-wearing/moving to New York City/partying with Michael Lohan new life. Once she called a centerpiece of flowers “distracting and ugly,” I was pretty much back to thinking I don’t want to be on anyone’s side anymore.

Michael Douglas' son in NYC Arrest

NEW YORK – Law enforcement officials say the son of Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas has been arrested on a drug charge at an upscale New York City hotel.

Two people familiar with the investigation say 30-year-old Cameron Douglas was arrested July 28 on a methamphetamine-dealing charge at the Hotel Gansevoort (GANZ'-uh-vawt) in Manhattan. They spoke Monday on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

Cameron Douglas has acted in movies including 2003's "It Runs in the Family," starring his father and grandfather Kirk Douglas.

He also was arrested in California in 2007 on cocaine possession charges. His attorney then said the arresting officer didn't do his job properly.

There's no telephone listing for him. It's unclear whether he has a new attorney.

Michael Douglas' publicist and agent haven't returned calls.

The hotel says it has no comment.

Robert Pattinson feels protection

New York City streets are not safe for “Twilight’s” most important man, Robert Pattinson. It appears multitude of female fans keen to get a glimpse or maybe even a grab of the man behind the vamp pose a bigger threat than the actor’s bodyguards can handle.

“Its too enough,” a anxious official from the New York City Police Department told IrishCentral.com. “His security people aren’t up to the task of keeping him safe, and they have no idea how to deal with the crowds this guy attracts.”

According to the NYPD insider, a June incident, in which a taxi struck Pattinson as he attempted to flee a mob of overzealous fans, provided ample evidence of the young star’s problematic security detail.

Costner wishes to aid Canada festival sufferers

CAMROSE, Alberta – Kevin Costner declares he wishes to come again to Alberta to hold up those pretentious by the crumple of an outdoor stage during a severe thunderstorm that killed one person and injured dozens more at a country music festival.

“In actuality we are so depressing about the loss of life and injury that occurred on a day that carried so much promise, but turned so wicked so quickly," the actor said in a statement Monday.

"We hope to return to Alberta in the future to help with the healing."

Costner and his band, Modern West, were the next band scheduled to take the stage when a terrifying windstorm swept through the site of the Big Valley Jamboree.

The strong blast of wind collapsed the main stage so quickly that organizers did not have time to warn thousands of fans crowded around it.

Kerry Katona and Mark Croft get secret new holiday to heal rift

Kerry Katona and Mark Croft are getting a secret make-or-break weekend in the Lake District - in yet another "last-ditch" bid to save their marriage.
After one week declaring he sought a divorce, Mark was mottled talking and laughing with his wife before they headed to Cumbria.
One of his close friends told us: "Mark just told everybody he was going away for the weekend with a pal - he didn't want anyone to know it was Kerry.
"They required using some time together without the kids and out of the public eye to figure out where their relationship was going."
Meanwhile Kerry, 28 - dubbed a lard-a*** by Mark after their latest split - told pals she wanted him back because he's FUNNY.
The mum-of-four declared: "I know he's wrong for me in so many ways but he makes me laugh and that's all that matters."
A pal said: "Kerry is fundamentally weak. She'll always find a reason to go back to Mark.
"She kept saying how great they were together because they could always joke around and make each other laugh."
Last Thursday Kerry headed to the flat where Mark, 38, bolted after their split. Soon afterwards they emerged together and headed to the Lake District.
Ironically, the warring couple's latest rift began on their last "romantic" holiday - in Magaluf, Majorca, in June.

In spite of drama, Jackson's mother wins kids' custody

The desires Michael Jackson spoken in his will began to come into certainty Monday during a lengthy court hearing, with his mother placed firmly in charge of rearing his children and the two men he designated still at the reins of his financial empire.

while media fury buzzed outside, a blow motion from Jackson's longtime dermatologist injected some drama inside the courtroom: An attorney for the doctor, Arnold Klein, tried to enter objections to the parenting of Jackson's children.

Klein has had a lengthy part in Jackson's story line. He not only served as Jackson's doctor, but one of his employees, Deborah Rowe, married Jackson in 1996 and gave birth to two of the singer's children. Most recently, Klein's medical records have been subpoenaed as part of the police investigation of Jackson's death.

Given tabloid reports that he is the biological father of Jackson's two oldest children, the attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, quickly told the judge and dozens of reporters covering the hearing that biology wasn't the source of the objections.

Gosselin are recently rip as 'Jon & Kate' returns

NEW YORK — Reality TV mom Kate Gosselin says she feels a sense of peace after making the decision to separate from her husband, Jon.

So should fans of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," who may have fretted that this family-oriented reality show would be jeopardized by the co-stars' estrangement. For better or worse, the TLC series is as warm and fuzzy as ever, if two new episodes that aired Monday are any indication.

The episodes marked the end of a hiatus that began in June, when the Gosselins revealed to a huge audience of 10.6 million viewers their decision to split. The TLC network said then the couple needed time to "regroup," an odd word choice for a broken marriage.

But the revamped show's focus on "separately parenting" (another TLC term) is still focused on everyday family activities with the couple's eight kids — 5-year-old sextuplets and 8-year-old twins.Read More about Gosselin
